Section Awards

Research Award

Purpose:

Originally created in 1990, the Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Section – APTA, Inc. Research Awards are designed to recognize outstanding cardiovascular and pulmonary research presentations provided at each year’s Combined Sections Meeting.

Awards:

One award each is given to the presenter(s) of the best platform presentation and the best poster presentation. Recipients receive a certificate of achievement acknowledging their contribution. A notice of their awards also is placed in various Section media.

Eligibility:

The platform and the poster presentations must have been selected by the Section as part of the programming at the Combined Sections Meeting.

Selection committee:

Members of the Section Research Committee evaluate all of the research presentations.

Criteria for selection:

Evaluators rate each platform and poster presentation on the following criteria:
  1. clinical relevancy,
  2. clarity of presentation,
  3. research design,
  4. knowledge of topic,
  5. effective use of visuals.

Platform presentations also are rated on the effectiveness of the vocal presentation and the use of the time allotted.

Timeline:

Awardees receive their certificate about one month after the Combined Sections Meeting. Awards are announced at the subsequent Annual Meeting.

Past Award Winners

As a Section, we value the contribution of our members. We are pleased to acknowledge past award recipients from our Section and look forward to future contributions!
